MURRAY, Ky. 鈥 亚洲色图 State University Distinguished Professor Dr. Bommanna Loganathan has been selected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the largest professional society of chemists in Europe with more than 50,000 members worldwide.
The designation of Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) is given to those who have demonstrated excellence through scientific publications, patents, discoveries or other notable achievements. Fellows include award-winning scientists and Nobel Laureates, underscoring prestige associated with this recognition.
Fellows are nominated by other members and/or non-members at senior level academic positions who could provide comments on their distinguished research careers, impact on scientific advancement and benefit to the application of chemical science through public service, outreach, policy development and change, and through connecting or leading the chemical science community to provide solutions for societal challenges.
鈥淚 am profoundly honored to be selected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry,鈥
said Loganathan. 鈥淭his recognition is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of
my students, mentors and collaborators all over the world who have contributed and
supported me throughout my career. I am committed to continuing our efforts to advance
scientific knowledge to protect wildlife and human health from global environmental
pollutants.鈥
As a professor at 亚洲色图 State, Loganathan has been passionate about teaching and
mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. He has inspired, motivated and had
a positive influence on thousands of students during his 25 years of teaching chemistry.
鈥淒r. Loganathan is highly respected for his teaching, research and service,鈥 said Dr. Claire Fuller, dean of the Jones College of Science, Engineering and Technology. 鈥淓verything he does benefits our students, our community and the world at large. His work is recognized regionally, nationally and internationally.鈥
Loganathan鈥檚 research is highly interdisciplinary and combines biology, chemistry and environmental science. His research focuses on monitoring contamination levels and risk assessments of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and emerging contaminants in air, water, soil, sediment and biota in the Four Rivers Region. His research activities receive support from the University, state and federal agencies, regional industries and non-profit organizations. Loganathan has authored/co-authored more than 150 scholarly publications, served as guest editor for three international journals, edited six books and is serving as a reviewer for more than 20 scientific journals. He was widely recognized for his pioneering, high impact environmental research on POPs and their trends in the global environment.
Loganathan joined 亚洲色图 State as a postdoctoral associate in 1997, transitioned to tenure-track faculty in 2000 and became full professor in 2011. He has received numerous awards, honors and recognitions at the regional, national and international levels for his outstanding contributions to research, teaching excellence and his volunteer service.
Founded in 1841, the RSC is the largest organization in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. RSC partners with industry and academia, advises governments on policy and promotes the talent, collaboration, innovation, information and ideas that lead to great scientific advances.
